Wildflower Season in Zion — What's Blooming and Where to Find It

If you think Zion is just red rock and blue sky, you're missing out on its best-kept secret. Every
spring, the canyon transforms. Crimson cliffrose, golden brittlebush, purple phacelia, and delicate
Indian paintbrush spill across the canyon floors and cliffsides in a show that lasts only a few
precious weeks. It's Zion in full bloom, and it's breathtaking.
Here's where to find the best wildflower displays this time of year:
Pa'rus Trail
This paved, riverside trail is one of the easiest walks in the park — and in spring, it's lined with
color. Perfect for families, easy on the knees, and stunning at golden hour.
Emerald Pools Trail
The lower and middle pools are surrounded by hanging gardens and lush vegetation fed by
seasonal waterfalls. Spring is when this trail is at its most alive — literally dripping with green.
Canyon Overlook Trail
Short, accessible, and spectacular. The wildflowers here frame some of the most photogenic views
in the park. Bring your camera. You'll use it constantly.
Kolob Terrace Road
Less traveled and absolutely worth it. Drive through meadows blanketed in bloom with almost no
one else around. A hidden gem that wildflower lovers rave about.
Pro tip: Wildflower timing varies by elevation. Lower canyon blooms peak in late March through
April; higher elevations follow through May and into June. The window is short — so if flowers
are calling, don't wait.
And when you're done chasing blooms through the canyon? Come back to Zion Red Rock, watch
the light fade over the cliffs. That, too, is in full bloom this time of year.
